Significant Events in Qingdao’s History

Grade 5 and 6 students have been exploring various significant events as part of their investigation into Where We Are in Place in Time. Students have shared significant events from their own lives and done research on events that go beyond their experiences to encompass local, national and international events.

The underlying lines of inquiry highlight how different events can be interpreted, and how they can lead to change in the communities where the events took place.

Our field trip on Friday, September 18, highlighted for students and staff the many significant events that have happened in Qingdao’s past. Starting with the Governor’s House and moving through time to the May 4th square, students were able to understand the history of settlement and power in our city.

We look forward to sharing our summative assessments as students analyze, recreate and present different perspectives on a significant world event.
