Literacy Week 2016 (Day 4)

On day 4 of the Literacy Week 2016, QAIS learners had the chance to experience the library with their parents. This was an opportunity for students to share information about some of the sessions that have been held throughout the week.

Since there was a mini book fair, students were able to tell their parents about the authors that visited, about the books these authors wrote and discussed with them, as well as the experience in the Skype conferences which they participated.

Most importantly, parents had the chance to spend some quality, intellectual time with their children in the library.

Likewise, Christiane, our school counselor, offered a mini workshop in which she discussed the relationship between reading and Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL).

And to wrap up the day, Mr. Sean O. and his drama team presented  a series of mini productions in which they addressed the concept of ‘perspective’.

It’s been 4 days now, and the Literacy Week 2016 message has been conveyed powerfully to the community: there is more to the stories in a book than we can possibly imagine
