Learning to Convey Message through Illustration
PYP5, PYP6 and MYP2 participated in an illustration workshop with 猫小四 AKA Mr. Happy, a local Comic book writer, and also had the opportunity to practice their Chinese language skills.
Mr. Happy explained his approach to illustrating to students, and gave them an example of how to use space, width and opacity of lines. After that, he invited and guided students to sketch someone in the audience along with him.
The presentation was completely in Chinese, with eventual/spontaneous praises in English, so students also had the opportunity to practice the Chinese language in a somewhat academic context.
This is 猫小四 ‘s second occasion participating in QAIS literacy week, and also an example of how QAIS uses existing talent in the local community to enrich students’ experiences.
