We have been working with understanding place value. We have discussed how each digit has a value and this helps us to determine which one is greater, less, or in some cases equal. We focused on using the appropriate symbols and language: greater than, less than, and equal to. We had special guests in our classroom, Ms. Veal and Mr. Shawver, who taught us about how computers work. They shared with us that a computer works because there is an input, which then goes through a program, and it results in an output. We were then challenged to code using specific commands and cups.
For our unit of inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves, our big idea is community. We are singing “Count On Me” every morning during our class meeting. We took time to reflect about the song and we love the message of working together and counting on each other.
We had a blast organizing ourselves as a community to celebrate this Winter Holiday. Each member of the table made their contribution to build our own community Christmas tree!
