Happy Chinese New Year!
We were hard at work the last few weeks writing opinion pieces, independently completing our literacy circles, solving addition and subtraction problems with regrouping and borrowing, and wrapping up our third unit of inquiry How We Organize Ourselves. In the midst of the busyness we made a good luck fish, and a pig in lieu of Chinese New Year.
We heard that the year of the pig is about welcoming money. We all thought about what we would do if money came our way…like buy lots of candy or share it with others.
We wrapped up our third unit of inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves. In this unit we focused on the different roles needed in a community for it to function. As part of our summative we all asked ourselves what role do I want to have in my community when I grow up?
We all worked as a community to make a video as another piece of our summative. A huge thank you goes to our cooking staff, janitor, Ms. Amy, Ms. Sandy, and Ms. Pamela for giving us a few minutes of their day for an interview. We had a wonderful time celebrating the Chinese New Year with our whole school community. It was a fun-filled afternoon of games, performances, and yummy food!
From our hearts to yours we wish everyone a prosperous and Happy Chinese New Year!
