How the World Works
We were all very excited to come back after our fun-filled Spring break. We loved sharing and hearing the relaxing, fun, or exciting experiences we all had. We have started our fifth unit of inquiry, How the World Works. In this unit we will focus on Earth’s changes. We unscrambled our central idea: Earth goes through a process of change. We shared and discussed what process and change mean. We also chose new table mates for this unit and look forward to collaboration and teamwork!
We read a book titled, Born with a BANG! We made the connection with the First Great Story of our Montessori curriculum. We are looking forward to exploring and learning more about our beautiful and diverse world, and most importantly the responsibility we all share in taking care of our Earth! In our literacy block we are focusing on informational text and how to identify relevant facts. This is a very important skill to have as a researcher. We are currently reading a book titled, How the World Works, and we are beyond excited about all the valuable facts we are learning. We wrapped up our Geometry strand with exploring how to compare fractions with the same or different denominator; order fractions both from least to greatest, and greatest to least; add and subtract fractions with common denominators. We used our Montessori fractions material to help us visualize what is happening and make the transition from concrete to abstract. For our independent writing time, during our literacy block, we started working on a 7 day Positivity Challenge. For day 3, our challenge was to think of an “AWE” moment that has left us feeling happy or inspired. We were so happy to share our beautiful moments.
