Little Scientists in Action!

This week we began a new science unit all about liquid matter. In particular, we are studying the properties of oil and water. Through experiments mixing watercolors with oil, the children closely observed how the two materials do not mix – they ‘repel’ each other! “They don’t want to make friends” one child observed… “They run away from each other!” “The water makes little bubbles, look how they sit on the top!”

We began to explore color mixing. The children observed that, as we add two colors, and the bubbles popped at the bottom, they mixed to make a new color.

In assembly this week, some of our risk-taking children performed their version of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The costumes and props were made by all children in the class along with Ms Daisy.

Teachers can only help the great work that is being done, as servants help the master.

We hope you enjoy these photos of the great work happening in our classroom this week.
